Emergencies happen every day off the grid. From sprained ankles and car accidents to broken sailboat masts and severe medical issues, inReach has been used to get help on land and offshore all over the world.

 

October 10, 2016: Two men spent a night on the shore of Kissing Lake in Manitoba, soaking wet and freezing, after their boat capsized. A search and rescue team reached them in the morning and provided medical attention.
October 10, 2016: A snowstorm trapped a hiker in Snoqualmie National Forest near Cascade Pass after twisting her ankle. After several failed attempts by a helicopter rescue team, the hiker began descending the mountain under her own power until she met another party of hikers that were able to assist.
October 10, 2016: A horse fell and rolled over its rider deep in the Idaho wilderness, causing severe internal injuries to the rider. An emergency helicopter evacuation was performed.
October 10, 2016: Two mountain climbers suffering from severe altitude sickness in India required an emergency evacuation. GEOS and the Polish Consulate worked to coordinate a helicopter rescue.
October 9, 2016: A climber suffered a broken arm in the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain. A helicopter transported the individual off the mountain for treatment.
October 2, 2016: A hiker fell in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, injuring his back. Unable to climb out, he declared SOS and requested a helicopter extraction.
October 2, 2016: An ATV crash in Idaho left one man with two broken legs and other injuries. An ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital.
October 2, 2016: A hunter in Wyoming suffered a deep laceration to their thumb. Search and rescue met the party at a nearby reservoir and transported the injured hunter to a hospital via ambulance.
October 1, 2016: A good samaritan inReach user declared SOS for a fellow hiker that suffered a severely injured ankle while hiking in the Scottish Highlands. A helicopter was dispatched to safely transport the hiker off of the mountain.
October 1, 2016: A hiker suffering from severe nausea in Rocky Mountain National Park was unable to descend on his own. National Park Service assisted the hiker with his climb down.
September 30, 2016: A good samaritan inReach owner activated SOS after witnessing a motorcycle accident in Ouachita National Forest, Arkansas. Local emergency services responded to the scene.
September 29, 2016: A PCT through hiker suffering from dehydration and exhaustion was unable to continue. Mono County Search and Rescue dispatched a helicopter.
September 29, 2016: A hunter in Wyoming fell off of his horse, suffering debilitating injuries. Park County Search and Rescue dispatched a helicopter.
September 26, 2016: A mountaineer in the Annapurna region of Nepal suffered a knee injury and was unable to continue. A helicopter evacuation was successfully executed.
September 25, 2016: A hiker was found in a diabetic shock near Lake Williston, British Columbia. An ambulance transported the hiker to a local hospital for treatment.
September 24, 2016: A hiker suffered a broken ankle after being hit by a falling rock near Yosemite National Park. A helicopter performed an evacuation.
September 24, 2016: A thru-hiker suffered a knee injury on the John Muir Trail and was unable to safely continue. A helicopter was able to evacuate the hiker before sunset.
September 24, 2016: A hunter in Nunavut got his ATV stuck in the mud and was unable to get himself free. ECC coordinated a group of locals to help tow the hunter out of the mud.
September 24, 2016: A cyclist suffered a concussion after falling in Big Sur, California. Local EMTs responded to the scene.
September 23, 2016: A hunter failed to check in at camp for over 24 hours, causing his hunting partner declared SOS to help search for the missing person. A local search and rescue team responded.
September 23, 2016: A hiker suffered a seizure and hit his head while camping in British Columbia. A helicopter safely evacuated the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
September 23, 2016: A hunter suffered a broken leg in Inyo County, California. Search and rescue responded and evacuated the injured hunter to a local hospital.
September 21, 2016: A hunter suffered a head laceration near Crestone, Colorado, and was unable to hike out for help. A ground team was sent in this morning to provide assistance.
September 18, 2016: A hiker became lost in Contra Costa County, California. Search and rescue responded.
September 17, 2016: A climber in Nepal started suffering from altitude sickness. His travel company dispatched a helicopter to provide treatment.
September 17, 2016: A group of backpackers became stuck in a rain storm near Snoqualmie Pass, Washington. After hunkering down for 20 hours, the weather broke and they were able to slowly hike out.
September 16, 2016: A hunter in Colorado suffered a deep puncture wound to his leg and was unable to hike out. A medical evacuation was coordinated.
September 15, 2016: A hunter declared SOS after suffering a deep knife wound on his right leg. Search and rescue evacuated him to a hospital in Jackson Hole.
September 14, 2016: A truck broke down near Morehead Lake in British Columbia. IRECC was able to coordinate a tow through a local towing service.
September 13, 2016: A hiker suffering from exhaustion on the Pacific Crest Trail needed an extraction from Kings Canyon National Park. Park Rangers were dispatched.
September 13, 2016: A mountaineer suffered a 5-meter fall while trekking in Shey Phoksundo National Park in Nepal. The U.S. Consulate arranged a helicopter evacuation for the following morning.
September 12, 2016: A group of hikers needed assistance after a bear was spotted at their campsite near Yellowknife, Canada.
September 11, 2016: A dirtbike rider crashed in a remote section of upstate New York, breaking his ankle. The injured rider was able to coordinate with a local search and rescue volunteer to get an ambulance to his location.
September 10, 2016: A woman broke her foot after being thrown off of a horse in northern Utah. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene and transported the injured rider to a hospital.
September 10, 2016: A motorcycle crash left a man severely injured on the side of the road in Montezuma County, Colorado. Emergency services responded.
September 10, 2016: An inReach user reported a vehicle accident near Ripplebrook, Washington. Local police and a towing company responded.
September 10, 2016: A paragliding accident occurred near Thousand Oaks, California. A helicopter transported the injured pilot to a local hospital for treatment.
September 9, 2016: A dirtbike rider in Idaho severed his toe in the Nez Perce backcountry. Local emergency services transported him to a local hospital in an ambulance.
September 9, 2016: A climber in Switzerland became stuck on a ledge and required assistance getting down. Local search and rescue responded.
September 8, 2016: A remote worker used inReach to request assistance after popping a tire in northern Alberta.
September 7, 2016: A thru-hiker on the Pacific Crest Trail used his inReach to report a wildfire and inquire if it was safe to continue on the trail. He was able to make an informed decision to set up camp and await clearance from Cal Fire.
September 5, 2016: A remote worker became lost in Chiricahua National Forest, Arizona. His employer was able to coordinate a rescue using a helicopter and a ground crew.
September 4, 2016: A sailboat lost engine power and their anchor started slipping, causing them to drift towards a rocky ledge. The captain used his inReach to request a two through Boat US.
September 4, 2016: A climber in Kings Canyon National Park suffered broken ribs after falling. A helicopter was dispatched but unable to land due to terrain. A medic was able to hike in and provide assistance while they waited for an evacuation.
September 4, 2016: A horseback rider was thrown off of his horse and kicked in the head while riding in the Yukon Territory, Canada. A helicopter was dispatched.
September 3, 2016: A plane scheduled to pick up a hunting group in Alaska crashed while landing on an airstrip near Denali State Park. No injuries were reported.
September 2, 2016: A good samaritan declared SOS after witnessing a boat accident on the Goodpaster River in Alaska. Alaska State Troopers responded.
August 31, 2016: A hiker suffering from severe abdominal pain used SOS to request assistance after they were unable to walk any further. Park Rangers responded.
August 31, 2016: A hiker became very ill on the Continental Divide Trail in Montana and declared SOS. A helicopter was dispatched and transported the hiker to a local hospital for treatment.
August 31, 2016: A motorcycle crash in Lolo National Forest, Idaho left a man with a broken arm and trouble breathing. A helicopter was able to transport the injured rider to a local hospital for treatment.
August 31, 2016: A recreational pilot was forced to make an emergency landing on the George Parks Highway in Denali National Park, Alaska. No injuries were reported.
August 30, 2016: An individual used his inReach to report a small fire in Yosemite National Park.
August 30, 2016: A hiker in Sequoia National Park began suffering from severe abdominal pain and used SOS to request assistance. She cancelled the SOS in the morning after her pain subsided.
August 27, 2016: A van became stuck in the sand in Punta Cabra, Mexico. A passing truck was able to pull the vehicle out.
August 27, 2016: A hiker became sick near Mt. Whitney and requested a medical evacuation. A search and rescue team was dispatched at first light to assist the hiker.
August 27, 2016: A hiker suffered an asthma attack near McKenzie Pass, Oregon. Local search and rescue provided assistance.
August 26, 2016: A climber fell near Cirque of the Towers, Wyoming, sustaining serious head and leg injuries. A helicopter evacuated the climber to a local hospital for treatment.
August 25, 2016: An inReach user in Italy used SOS to report a fire near the base of Mt. Vesuvius. Local authorities responded.
August 24, 2016: A motorcycle rider lost control of his bike and crashed on a rural road in Wyoming, breaking his hip. Freemont County Sheriff responded.
August 23, 2016: A good samaritan declared SOS after discovering a kayaker that had suffered a serious head injury after going over Allagash Falls in Aroostook County, Maine. Maine State Police and an ambulance service responded.
August 23, 2016: A hiker declared SOS after two of his hiking partners became lost near Snoqualmie Pass, Washington. They were both found on a nearby trail shortly after. One of the lost hikers required medical attention after becoming hypothermic and suffering a psychotic break in the middle of the night. A helicopter evacuated the party to a local hospital.
August 23, 2016: While sailing off the coast of Nunavut in Hudson Bay, Canada, a vessel with three crew ran out of gas. A rescue boat rushed to locate them as winds picked up and started blowing the sailboat farther offshore. All three were safely transported back to shore.
August 17, 2016: An inReach user suffered a knee injury after crashing his motorcycle. An ambulance was dispatched and transported the victim to a hospital in Helena, Montana.
August 17, 2016: A climber activated SOS after falling near Moab. Grand County Search and Rescue responded.
August 17, 2016: An inReach user came across a hiker who had fallen in a river, sustaining severe lacerations and a possible broken jaw. They activated SOS and waited with the victim for a helicopter.
August 17, 2016: A hiker suffered an allergic reaction in Jasper National Park, Alberta. A helicopter was able to evacuate the her to a hospital at sunrise.
August 16, 2016: A man fell while climbing Bugaboo Col in British Columbia, sustaining injuries to his head and neck. A helicopter airlifted the injured climber to a hospital for treatment.
August 16, 2016: A lost hiker declared SOS in Canyonlands National Park after showing signs of dehydration. A helicopter transported the hiker to safety.
August 14, 2016: A hiker declared SOS after falling and breaking several ribs. Search and rescue responded.
August 14, 2016: A rider declared SOS after crashing his motorcycle in Mexico. Local emergency services were dispatched.
August 14, 2016: A hiker suffered a mild stroke while hiking on the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountains. A helicopter was dispatched.
August 14, 2016: A hiker used inReach to report a wildfire in California.
August 13, 2016: A hiker activated SOS due to severe stomach pain while traversing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Search and rescue dispatched a ground crew.
August 13, 2016: A high-angle search and rescue team was dispatched to the site of a fallen climber near Mount Hood, Oregon.
August 13, 2016: A climber came across a woman with a broken ankle on Mount Rainier and activated SOS. A helicopter was dispatched.
August 13, 2016: A solo climber was struck by a large boulder after a rockslide in the Cascade Mountains and was unable to hike out. A nearby climbing party activated SOS and waited for a helicopter with the injured climber.
August 12, 2016: A hiker broke his ankle near Mono Hot Springs in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. A helicopter was dispatched.
August 12, 2016: A climber fell in northern Scotland, suffering injuries to their head and spine. A helicopter performed an extraction and transported the immobile climber to the hospital.
August 11, 2016: A man broke his ankle while hiking in Sierra National Forest in California. A helicopter transported the injured hiker to a local hospital for treatment.
August 10, 2016: A man fell off of a horse in Wyoming, causing injuries to his neck and spine. Fremont County dispatched a helicopter to transport the man to a local hospital for care.
August 10, 2016: A hiker attempting to summit Borah Peak in Idaho became hypothermic while camping on the mountain. A helicopter was dispatched to transport the hiker back to the trail head for an examination.
August 9, 2016: A hiker requested help after showing signs of altitude sickness in Kings Canyon National Park. A helicopter transported the hiker to a local hospital for treatment.
August 8, 2016: An inReach user witnessed a vehicle accident in rural British Columbia and used his inReach to notify the RCMP.
August 8, 2016: Two hikers in Wyoming got lost after taking a wrong turn. They were located by Park Rangers and walked back to the trailhead.
August 6, 2016: A hiker in Olympic National Park was unable to traverse a rope ladder on his way off of a mountain. A ranger was able to hike in to the location and assist the hiker with his descent.
August 6, 2016: A hiker became stuck on a mountain while trekking through the Pyrenees. French search and rescue responded.
August 4, 2016: A group of hikers got lost on Kauai and were too exhausted to continue. A helicopter extraction was performed by the local fire department.
August 3, 2016: A driver with a disabled vehicle requested roadside assistance in remote British Columbia.
August 2, 2016: A hiker declared SOS after waking up with a swollen hand and arm from a spider bite. Fresno County search and rescue dispatched a helicopter.
August 1, 2016: A dirt biker fell down a steep embankment on a back road in Montana. Search and rescue responded and helped the man retrieve his dirt bike. No injuries were reported.
July 31, 2016: A vehicle blew a tire while driving in rural southern Wyoming. IRECC was able to contact AAA and coordinate a tow to the nearest service station.
July 31, 2016: A hiker broke his ankle near Mt. Jefferson, Oregon. A helicopter airlifted the hiker to a local hospital for treatment.
July 31, 2016: A hiker suffered a lacerated leg on Vancouver Island and was unable to hike out. BC Search and Rescue responded.
July 31, 2016: An inReach user came across a motorcycle accident in Alaska. State Troopers responded.
July 30, 2016: An inReach user came across a hiker on the PCT that was suffering from an allergic reaction to nuts. A helicopter responded.
July 30, 2016: An inReach user declared SOS for a motorcycle crash in rural West Virginia. An ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
July 30, 2016: A vehicle crash in Australia left one person seriously injured. A helicopter transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
July 30, 2016: A sailboat ran aground off the coast of Mexico, causing damage to the backup engine. Mexican Navy responded.
July 29, 2016: A canoe capsized off the coast of Orcas Island, Washington. U.S. Coast Guard responded.
July 29, 2016: A vehicle broke down while traveling through Liberia. The group was able to coordinate a tow on their own.
July 28, 2016: A member of a hiking party became violently ill in the backcountry. They were able to coordinate an evacuation with a local pilot using their inReach.
July 28, 2016: A man injured his leg while hiking in Nez Perce National Forest and was unable to hike out. A helicopter transported the injured hiker to a local hospital for treatment.
July 27, 2016: A hiker collapsed on a trail in Idaho. Fellow hikers were able to revive him and take him to a nearby ranch where a helicopter was waiting to bring him to a hospital.
July 26, 2016: A hiker fell about 20 feet into a creek bed while descending from Mt. Whitney in California, suffering minor injuries. A high-angle rescue team was dispatched to extract the man from the creek bed.
July 23, 2016: A boat with five passengers aboard started taking on water off the coast of the Aleutian Islands. U.S. Coast Guard responded.
July 21, 2016: An inReach user activated SOS for another person who had a stroke in Fresno County, California.
July 21, 2016: An inReach user in New Zealand witnessed a vehicle accident and used his inReach to request emergency assistance.
July 20, 2016: A motorbike was swept up by a flash flood in southern Utah. Search and rescue responded and helped retrieve the vehicle.
July 20, 2016: A rafting guide fell out of a raft and hit his head on a rock. A member of the rafting party declared SOS and waited for search and rescue to arrive. He was transported to a local hospital.
July 17, 2016: A hiker suffered a severe head injury in northern British Columbia. Local search and rescue responded to the location.
July 17, 2016: A motorcycle crash left a man with a broken collar bone near Cordero, Nevada. County emergency services responded.
July 17, 2016: A man sailing near the Azores was stung by a Portuguese Man-of-War. He was able to manage the pain and sail to Flores for further treatment.

July 13, 2016: A boat started taking on water 25 miles off the coast of Englewood, FL. Florida Coast Guard responded.
July 12, 2016: In Superior National Forest, a hiker fell and hit his head on a rock, suffering a deep cut on his head. An ambulance met the party at the trail head.
July 11, 2016: A boat lost all controls off the coast of Tanzania. The boat owner was able to self-rescue.
July 10, 2016: An inReach user came across an individual with altitude sickness in Sierra National Forest. A medical evacuation was performed.
July 9, 2016: A climber suffered a broken ankle on Windom Peak in Colorado. An air evacuation was performed by La Plata County Search and Rescue.
July 9, 2016: A hiker suffered an allergic reaction to a wasp sting in British Columbia. RCMP responded.
July 8, 2016: A boat broke down off the coast of Tanzania. Owner was able to self-rescue.
July 8, 2016: A lost hiker in the High Peaks region of New York needed help locating the trail. Forest Rangers located and assisted the hiker.
July 8, 2016: A boater declared SOS on a remote lake in Saskatchewan. Royal Canadian Mounted Police responded.
July 8, 2016: An inReach user crashed their motorcycle in the Yukon Territory near Whitehorse. Local authorities responded.
July 6, 2016: A hiker suffered a broken arm and head injuries after falling on Eagle Creek Trail in Oregon. Search and rescue responded.
July 4, 2016: A woman suffered severe injuries after crashing a four-wheeler in southern Idaho. Search and rescue performed a helicopter evacuation.
July 3, 2016: A climber fell into a crevasse on Mount Rainier, injuring his face and arm. Search and rescue performed a helicopter evacuation.
July 3, 2016: A hiker called SOS after discovering that his tires were slashed while out on the trail. The county deputy responded.
July 3, 2016: A mountain biker suffered a broken collarbone while mountain biking in Alberta, Canada. Search and rescue transported the victim to a local hospital.
July 3, 2016: In Canyonlands National Park, an inReach user came across a group of kayakers that were stranded in a canyon for 2 days after their boats floated away. Search and rescue responded.
July 2, 2016: A hiker requested an evacuation after severely spraining her knee on the John Muir Trail in California. A helicopter was dispatched.
July 2, 2016: A hiker was hit in the head by a boulder on Face Mountain in British Columbia. Search and rescue performed a helicopter evacuation.

June 26, 2016: An inReach user came across an unresponsive motorcycle crash victim in Los Padres National Forest. A helicopter transported the injured rider to a local hospital.
June 26, 2016: Backpackers reported seeing and smelling smoke on the Pacific Crest Trail near Mono Lake. County fire resources confirmed it was a wildfire about 40 miles away.
June 25, 2016: A man broke his leg while riding a motorcycle near Topaz Lake, Nevada. Local search and rescue responded.
June 25, 2016: A motorcycle crash left a man with a separated shoulder and broken ribs near Pyramid Lake, Nevada. Local search and rescue transported the injured rider to a local hospital.
June 26, 2016: An inReach user came across an unresponsive motorcycle crash victim in Los Padres National Forest. A helicopter transported the injured rider to a local hospital.
June 22, 2016: A climber fell off of a cliff on Mt. Shasta, suffering a head injury and broken arm. He was transported by helicopter to a local hospital.
June 21, 2016: In Utah, a hiker suffering from heat stroke was transported by search and rescue to a nearby hospital.
June 20, 2016: An individual was attacked by a wild stallion in Ochoco National Forest, Oregon. Emergency services were dispatched.
June 20, 2016: A hiker suffered a broken leg while summiting Sunday Mountain in Montana. Search and rescue dispatched a helicopter to transport the injured hiker to a local hospital.
June 19, 2016: A mountain biker suffered a broken foot in central Oregon. Search and rescue performed an extraction.
June 17, 2016: A driver requested assistance for a flat tire in northern Washington.
June 15, 2016: A female solo hiker fell in to a creek and was unable to hike back. Local search and rescue were dispatched to assist.
June 15, 2016: A mushroom harvester triggered the SOS after one their drying machines caught on fire and started a significant blaze. They were able to get it under control before local fire crews arrived.
June 13, 2016: A hiker suffering from altitude sickness requested an evacuation on the John Muir Trail in California. The Helicopter was eventually called off as the hiker’s partner was able to provide care.
June 12, 2016: A driver needed assistance after becoming stuck in the mud in Montana. Phillips County Sheriff performed an extraction.
June 12, 2016: A hiker suffering from an injured knee required a helicopter evacuation in Glacier National Park, Montana.
June 11, 2016: Royal Canadian Mounted Police responded to a vehicle accident in British Columbia, Canada.

September 23, 2015: A group at a remote cabin in British Columbia triggered an SOS last night when one of them became very ill with severe digestive-related symptoms. A helicopter is scheduled to pick him up at 7:30 this morning PST.
September 20, 2015: A member of a group in a very remote area of Southwest Idaho had a heart attack. A helicopter was sent to get the victim airlifted out.
September 17, 2015: Two hikers became lost in King’s Canyon National Park in California. A land-based team was dispatched, but the two hikers found the trail again on their own and were able to call off the search.
September 16, 2015: A subscriber triggered his SOS from the Northwest corner of Morocco, but did not respond to GEOS’ text messages. Local police were dispatched and provided aid.
September 14, 2015: A hiker began experiencing chest pains near Gunnison National Forest in Colorado. SAR was in the process of being dispatched when the subscriber texted that they had been able to reach their car and were driving the hiker to the hospital. July 9, 2015: An off-road motorcycle rider northeast of Mount Rainier had an accident, fell in to a river, breaking his hip and wrist. Search and rescue was dispatched.
July 8, 2015: An off-roading motorcycle rider in a remote area of southwestern Wyoming had an accident and broke his ankle. A local ambulance and sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to assist.
July 7, 2015: A group of 11 backpackers in Roosevelt National Forest, Colorado triggered an SOS when a member of their group began having severe altitude sickness the night before. The park rangers were unable to send a rescue party, but did dispatch one in the morning.
July 7, 2015: An inReach user in British Columbia near Chase Provincial Park used their SOS button to request information about a forest fire in the area. GEOS relayed information to them from the local authorities saying they needed to evacuate immediately.

July 3, 2015: A group camping in Arctic National Park declared an SOS when one of its members accidentally spilled boiling water from a personal camp stove and suffered from second degree burns. Unable to hike out, they waited while 3 helicopter rescue attempts failed due to weather. The next day the injured person felt well enough to start hiking out slowly. SOS was cancelled.
July 2, 2015: A solo hiker in Deschutes National Forest, Oregon fell, twisted his knee and hit his head just south of Scott Pass. He was rescued via helicopter.
June 30, 2015: An inReach user developed a severe infection in his foot while backpacking with his spouse in Flathead National Forest, Montana. In severe pain and the condition worsening, they were unable to hike out to get help. A helicopter rescue was dispatched, but when the helicopter arrived it experienced a mechanical malfunction and broke down. Another helicopter was dispatched and successfully rescued the backpackers.

June 14, 2015: An inReach user was climbing Balanced Rock above Colchuck Lake in Washington State when he came upon a person who had fallen and hit his head. The inReach user became a Good Samaritan when he triggered the SOS and even assisted in the rescue by going to the trailhead to guide the search and rescue team to the location because there was no place to land a helicopter.
June 13, 2015: An inReach user had a motorcycle accident in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Tennessee. Local emergency services responded. He suffered an arm injury.
June 13, 2015: An inReach user's boat drifted away while his group was out fishing on Reindeer Lake in Western Canada located on the border between northeastern Saskatchewan and northwestern Manitoba. The U.S.-based group became stranded on Thackeray Island. They were picked up by local search and rescue with no injuries reported.
June 9, 2015: A Good Samaritan inReach user triggered an SOS when he came across another person with heat stroke. An ambulance was dispatched, but it couldn't get to the injured person until the barge operator arrived to transport it across a major river. The inReach user gave up many hours of his personal time and stayed with the person to help throughout the evening until another means of rescue was coordinated.
June 7, 2015: An inReach user attempting to climb a 14er sprained his knee. He spent the night on Scimitar Pass just south of Mount Jepson in King's Canyon National Park, California before a helicopter was able to reach him the next day.
June 4, 2015: A Good Samaritan inReach user came upon a forest fire on the Pacific Crest Trail in San Bernardino National Forest. She used her inReach to alert authorities and a helicopter was dispatched with fire fighters who contained the blaze. The hiker is continuing on her way. With how drougth-stricken California is, this user could have been the key to saving lives and preventing a serious forest fire.
May 30, 2015: Four people were stranded for over 12 hours while dirt biking near Mammoth, Arizona. They had run out of water, were suffering from dehydration, and could not find their way back. Local search and rescue were dispatched and picked them up safely.

August 30, 2014: Two inReach devices triggered an SOS event in a dirt biking accident in the mountain north of Vancouver, British Columbia. One by the injured victim and another by someone else in the group. The injured person sustained a severe broken leg. Local officials responded by sending in a helicopter. The second inReach device was used to communicate critical information to the rescue monitoring center.
August 30, 2014: A member of a backpacking party sustained an ankle injury south of Yellowstone. A helicopter was dispatched during strong winds to pick up the injured person.
August 23, 2014: Three kayakers were unable to get to shore due to high winds and rough seas on the east side of Hudson Bay. They were rescued by local authorities.
